__init__.py 359
_collections.py A stack of dictionaries that behaves as a view on those dictionaries, giving preference to the last. >>> stack = DictStack([dict(a=1, c=2), dict(b=2, a=2)]) >>> stack['a'] 2 >>> stack['b'] 2 >>> stack['c'] 2 >>> len(stack) 3 >>> stack.push(dict(a=3)) >>> stack['a'] 3 >>> set(stack.keys()) == set(['a', 'b', 'c']) True >>> set(stack.items()) == set([('a', 3), ('b', 2), ('c', 2)]) True >>> dict(**stack) == dict(stack) == dict(a=3, c=2, b=2) True >>> d = stack.pop() >>> stack['a'] 2 >>> d = stack.pop() >>> stack['a'] 1 >>> stack.get('b', None) >>> 'c' in stack True 5300
_functools.py Wrap func so it's not called if its first param is None >>> print_text = pass_none(print) >>> print_text('text') text >>> print_text(None) 411
_log.py 43
_macos_compat.py 239
_msvccompiler.py distutils._msvccompiler Contains MSVCCompiler, an implementation of the abstract CCompiler class for Microsoft Visual Studio 2015. The module is compatible with VS 2015 and later. You can find legacy support for older versions in distutils.msvc9compiler and distutils.msvccompiler. 19616
archive_util.py distutils.archive_util Utility functions for creating archive files (tarballs, zip files, that sort of thing). 8572
bcppcompiler.py distutils.bcppcompiler Contains BorlandCCompiler, an implementation of the abstract CCompiler class for the Borland C++ compiler. 14721
ccompiler.py distutils.ccompiler Contains CCompiler, an abstract base class that defines the interface for the Distutils compiler abstraction model. 48643
cmd.py distutils.cmd Provides the Command class, the base class for the command classes in the distutils.command package. 17861
command
config.py distutils.pypirc Provides the PyPIRCCommand class, the base class for the command classes that uses .pypirc in the distutils.command package. 4911
core.py distutils.core The only module that needs to be imported to use the Distutils; provides the 'setup' function (which is to be called from the setup script). Also indirectly provides the Distribution and Command classes, although they are really defined in distutils.dist and distutils.cmd. 9397
cygwinccompiler.py distutils.cygwinccompiler Provides the CygwinCCompiler class, a subclass of UnixCCompiler that handles the Cygwin port of the GNU C compiler to Windows. It also contains the Mingw32CCompiler class which handles the mingw32 port of GCC (same as cygwin in no-cygwin mode). 11924
debug.py 139
dep_util.py distutils.dep_util Utility functions for simple, timestamp-based dependency of files and groups of files; also, function based entirely on such timestamp dependency analysis. 3414
dir_util.py distutils.dir_util Utility functions for manipulating directories and directory trees. 8072
dist.py distutils.dist Provides the Distribution class, which represents the module distribution being built/installed/distributed. 50174
errors.py distutils.errors Provides exceptions used by the Distutils modules. Note that Distutils modules may raise standard exceptions; in particular, SystemExit is usually raised for errors that are obviously the end-user's fault (eg. bad command-line arguments). This module is safe to use in "from ... import *" mode; it only exports symbols whose names start with "Distutils" and end with "Error". 3589
extension.py distutils.extension Provides the Extension class, used to describe C/C++ extension modules in setup scripts. 10270
fancy_getopt.py distutils.fancy_getopt Wrapper around the standard getopt module that provides the following additional features: * short and long options are tied together * options have help strings, so fancy_getopt could potentially create a complete usage summary * options set attributes of a passed-in object 17899
file_util.py distutils.file_util Utility functions for operating on single files. 8212
filelist.py distutils.filelist Provides the FileList class, used for poking about the filesystem and building lists of files. 13715
log.py A simple log mechanism styled after PEP 282. Retained for compatibility and should not be used. 1201
msvc9compiler.py distutils.msvc9compiler Contains MSVCCompiler, an implementation of the abstract CCompiler class for the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. The module is compatible with VS 2005 and VS 2008. You can find legacy support for older versions of VS in distutils.msvccompiler. 30188
msvccompiler.py distutils.msvccompiler Contains MSVCCompiler, an implementation of the abstract CCompiler class for the Microsoft Visual Studio. 23577
py38compat.py 217
py39compat.py Ensure vars contains 'EXT_SUFFIX'. pypa/distutils#130 639
spawn.py distutils.spawn Provides the 'spawn()' function, a front-end to various platform- specific functions for launching another program in a sub-process. Also provides the 'find_executable()' to search the path for a given executable name. 3495
sysconfig.py Provide access to Python's configuration information. The specific configuration variables available depend heavily on the platform and configuration. The values may be retrieved using get_config_var(name), and the list of variables is available via get_config_vars().keys(). Additional convenience functions are also available. Written by: Fred L. Drake, Jr. Email: <fdrake@acm.org> 18928
text_file.py text_file provides the TextFile class, which gives an interface to text files that (optionally) takes care of stripping comments, ignoring blank lines, and joining lines with backslashes. 12085
unixccompiler.py distutils.unixccompiler Contains the UnixCCompiler class, a subclass of CCompiler that handles the "typical" Unix-style command-line C compiler: * macros defined with -Dname[=value] * macros undefined with -Uname * include search directories specified with -Idir * libraries specified with -lllib * library search directories specified with -Ldir * compile handled by 'cc' (or similar) executable with -c option: compiles .c to .o * link static library handled by 'ar' command (possibly with 'ranlib') * link shared library handled by 'cc -shared' 15601
util.py distutils.util Miscellaneous utility functions -- anything that doesn't fit into one of the other *util.py modules. 18099
version.py Provides classes to represent module version numbers (one class for each style of version numbering). There are currently two such classes implemented: StrictVersion and LooseVersion. Every version number class implements the following interface: * the 'parse' method takes a string and parses it to some internal representation; if the string is an invalid version number, 'parse' raises a ValueError exception * the class constructor takes an optional string argument which, if supplied, is passed to 'parse' * __str__ reconstructs the string that was passed to 'parse' (or an equivalent string -- ie. one that will generate an equivalent version number instance) * __repr__ generates Python code to recreate the version number instance * _cmp compares the current instance with either another instance of the same class or a string (which will be parsed to an instance of the same class, thus must follow the same rules) 12951
versionpredicate.py Module for parsing and testing package version predicate strings. 5205
